Surrender the Need for Control

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” (Romans 12:12 NIV).

When chaos comes, when it surrounds and consumes us, we feel as if everything is out of control. And, it is. It’s out of our control, but it is not out of His.

We can’t calm the chaos of this broken world. We can’t make sense of all the tragedy, suffering, and loss.

But, we can surrender our need to control. And we can always trust God- He is in control.

Even as we follow Christ, disorder and confusion can (and will) take over. So how will we respond?

•we carry joy because we rejoice in the hope of our Savior

•we wait in patience for His love and goodness to prevail (whether in this lifetime or the next)

•we chase Jesus, we pursue Him and all of His love and promises by turning our eyes to His Word, our ears to His whispers, and our hearts to His love. Dig into our Bibles and pray relentlessly.

We must remember that even the most painful suffering is temporary. In this shaky, unsteady world, He will set our feet on firm ground. He is the giver of unshakable peace.

Heavenly Father,

Remind us that we can’t put our faith and trust in men. Help us to put our trust in your promises and perfect plan for our lives. Comfort us and give us strength to persevere, especially when life is overwhelming and out of control. Give us light and joy, so that we can share and give it to others.

“Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days”

(Psalm 90:14 ESV).
