There is nothing more stable, more consistent, or more reliable than change. Seasons come and seasons go, but God walks right beside us every step of the way. He never leaves, he never changes. He is the one that stays, the one that remains. He is THE ONE.
As the book of Ecclesiastes so exquisitely tells us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens..” Trust that God is leading us as we embark on our season of change; trust that we are right where we’re supposed to be, doing exactly what we have been made to do. There is a time for everything, and now is our time. Let’s grab hold of this time of change. A change from fall to winter; a change from lifelong holiday traditions to the spark of new ones; a change in leadership for our country. Change. We are being given a new season. A perfect opportunity to do something new, something bold, something beautiful. Let’s not fear the change. Instead may we excitedly anticipate the new beginnings that are sure to come.
I choose to believe in the wonders of tomorrow. I choose to believe that what is meant to be will be. I choose to believe that change can be beautiful. As the stunning autumn leaves fall, I choose to trust that letting go is about relinquishing the old and making way for the new that is to come. I choose to believe that this new season will bring us more health, more happiness, more acceptance, more appreciation, more respect, and more love.
As we step into this season of change, may our internal burning desires to live, laugh and love flourish. May we all openly accept that we cannot experience new growth without proper pruning, rest and even spells of dormancy which winter may bring. We have “a time to plant and a time to uproot, and we will reap what we sow. If we sow sparingly, we will reap sparingly; and if we sow bountifully, we will reap bountifully.” So, “let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (2 Corinthians 9:6). Let us stand tall and proud, remembering our roots. And may we purposefully plant new seeds; seeds of faith, family, love and integrity. And while we’re at it, let’s enjoy the view of this breathtakingly beautiful, ever changing and evolving life. I resolve to live, not just endure, each season of this life. Will you join me?
